Looking Ahead To Find Calmness
This simple lifestyle hack improves your day and takes only 5 minutes!
When the world feels like it's closing in, look at the bigger picture.
I've found that by staring into the distance or at the horizon, I'm able to feel a sense of calm because it’s fact and truth in a vignette before me.
To the right is an image I took when I ventured to a tree top walk. Do you see the shrubbery and foliage just before the line where the sky meets land? To my eyes, this horizon a metaphor of the bewildering chatter, unnecessary noise, fears, doubts, temptations, limitations and any other negative connotations.
So often we find the majority (including - yes -even ourselves!) will focus on the "foliage" ignoring the clouds and the ever expansive sky. This is where we get stuck and fear begins. This is the moment to look further, to build the desire and drive to venture beyond the shrubbery of noise.
On days you're feeling crushed by personal or professional pressure and communication with others feels like you've hit a brick wall, take a brief walk outdoors and look at the sky or the horizon for a good 5-10 minutes to hit the reset button. If external factors can't subside when you're feeling ready, you can start off with simple yet effective methods to cool down and start again. More often than not, we just need a little more time to look at the bigger picture.
The bigger picture always beckons. We simply have to look ahead and the rest will dissipate.
